Energy and enthusiasm in the candidates was amazing, they blended in with ease. They had done their fair share of homework about our company, our history, the values that we stand for, they participated in the discussion on the Internet of Things, our transformation from waterfall to agile, and even volunteered to answer questions. They were very keen to know about the different Business Units, understand the roles and responsibilities, and how they can meet the expectations.
Pleasantly surprised to hear the type of questions from the candidates – their basic knowledge about ARPANET, TCP/IP, IPv4, router function, circuit switching, number of people connected to internet globally, the type of internet use cases of india relevance etc. was very encouraging! Their curiosity around what goes inside a router and how cisco manufactures a router was nice to see. Given proper support and nurturing these PLC candidates by Cisco, I am sure we will hear great things from them.
Candidates were very inquisitive and clearly indicated they were more than happy to put in extra efforts. They wanted to clearly know what our products are, what languages they must learn in order to ensure that they’re moving in right direction. Candidates were also very eager to know what profiles existed. They clearly exhibited that they were capable of taking up things into their ownership and drive it to success Candidates had also done research on the company and its products which definitely indicated that they were taking it up serious.
Overall, I was impressed with the level of interaction we managed to have with the group. About 65% of the candidates were very participative showing a lot of enthusiasm & energy. They had a lot of good questions and fearlessly participated in the fun group discussion exercise we did with them. There were a few whose communication skills were not up to expectations. Overall, the two hours were well spent and we would be interested to hear from the candidates about their feedback so that we can make the next IT interaction even better. Next time we plan to take a couple of ICs with us so that they can hear directly from the Engineers about their life at our company.
The students had a fabulous attitude and were very open to ideas, interaction and discussions. More of these sessions, maybe even outside of the classroom environment would give them immense exposure and shape their outlook to work culture
It was a very good interactive session with the students and they need more focused trainings on interviews and communications
